“O Lord, O energy of the Lord, please engage me in Your loving service.”

Who am I?
What is the goal of life?
What is the means to attain it?

Information about how to improve the results one achieves by of chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

A civilized society is determined by the actions (karma) of the individuals within that society. There are four main activities that individuals engage in that impact their consciousnesses and determine their level of character.

  1. Sobriety; The mode of ignorance (tamas) is a lack of intelligence. We can see that when individuals are under the influence of some type of drug or alcohol it impairs their judgment. There are countless lives that have been destroyed by the use of some kind of intoxicant. It is one of the biggest actions (karma) that have ruined marriages and in return cause emotional grief to the individuals in those families. To support a persons desire to be under the influence of some type of intoxication individuals have a term called responsible drinking or drug use. This is a type of illusion to justify getting intoxicated. To the degree that individuals of a society are sober and clear headed corresponds to the quality of that society. Under sobers conditions one is better able to make intelligent decisions that not only benefit them but those around them. Most individuals get intoxicated to be happy but as we know it is only temporary and comes with a cost.
  2. Diet; The number one thing that doctors treat patients is for are the lifestyle choices individuals have made. The quality of life is tied directly to the diet we have. So many individuals eat so many unhealthy things just to satisfy their tongue. After what we eat gets past the tongue the rest of the bodily organs haft to sort out the contaminates we consume. The mind contemplates enjoying some item to eat and disregards the intelligence on how unhealthy that item my be. The actions (karma) of the tongue should be regulated by intelligence. We are what we eat.
  3. Social interactions; The mode of passion (rajas) is what humans are mainly under the influence of. How we manage relationships is a big part of how we build character. How sex life enters an individual’s relationship with someone has a big impact on that relationship and our conscious. When we see other individuals as simply objects of our enjoyment we forget to respect them as seekers of self realization. When we become just takers in society we lower our conscious. Sex desire is such a strong impulse it requires proper management for one who wants to have a higher consciousnesses.
  4. Gambling; The risk we take in life can impact what we can achieve during our lifetime. When we speculate about the choices we make the consequences can be harmful and set us back in our achievements. Having proper intelligence allows us to make the best decisions that guid us through life. Where we get that proper knowledge (a bonified guru) about who we truly are, what the goal of life is and the means to attain that goal will ultimately determine how successful we will be throughout our life.

The better we manage these things determine our mental state our healthy state and our emotional state. Being in the best physical and emotional condition increases the odds of being successful in reaching our goals. When we are in a society that make intelligent decisions also improves that success rate.

No one wants to suffer but everyone does. Regulating these four items minimizes this suffering to a degree. When the mind is settled it is easer to contemplate a spiritual understanding.

This is the foundation for anyone who wants to come to the level of a responsible human being. This is also called the mode of goodness (
sattva). Understanding of some type of spiritual life is more clearly understood under sober conditions. Being situated on the mode of goodness is the best springboard to enter into spiritual life.

We can see that trying to manage these for items can be challenging. For a spiritualist in the Bhakti yoga process the easiest method to do so is to chant the Maha Mantra (great mind deliver) as much as possible. Everyone is suffering in this world. In the Bhagavad-gita Ch. verse states that happiness and distress are like winter and summer seasons. One must learn to tolerate them.

What is the goal of life? To understand who that Personal Spiritual Source is. The Supreme Lord Krishna. The nature of the atomic spiritual being is to harmonize with that Supreme Personality through service.

What is the means to achieve that goal? In the current age (kali yuga) the age of quarrel and hypocrisy the easiest method is to chant the following mantra.
